Recès
is a 15th
century Catalan house, renovated to a high specification. We
provide comfortable and spacious en-suite guesthouse accommodation for
relaxing breaks. All rooms are positioned off a central stairway
leading to the top floor guest lounge and terraces.
The Bistró
offers drinks, snacks & bistró dishes with a terrace service. Set Price Menus are available lunch times & evenings throughout the week. Times are flexible with early evening dinners. Please reserve.

HISTORY OF THE HOUSE
El
Recés
dates back to the 14th century, with the earliest part overlooking the last remaining section of the medieval village wall. Narrow streets inside the wall are accessible only by foot.
Close to the front door we have the Portal Santa Maria archway,
which is the old East gate and
passage.
The top floor, with good light from the arch windows, was previously
a studio for the German artist Horst Heller. The ground floor which was once 'Joclars' art gallery,
has now become the cosy winter Bistró.
We have been very conscious during
renovation not to change the structure or character of the
building. We have kept the rooms large, preserving the natural
stone.
